The word Oni refers to a Japanese demonic creature which was the client’s inspiration for their signature spicy ramen, Oni Reaper. In researching Japanese philosophies, we came across chowa, which means 'the search for balance'. To achieve chowa, Cadre Creatives chose clean, crisp, angular lines with warm, natural wood, clay brick and blue tile. This juxtaposition of spicy food and a sleek design, creates the balance between hot and cool—therefore achieving harmony within the space.
